We work hard to develop strong relationships with you, our student’s parents, guardians and carers. We also actively encourage you to engage in careers as we recognise parents usually have the greatest influence on a young person’s careers decision making and that careers conversations can, and often do, happen at home. These arrangements can range from regular communication during 10 weekly reviews, to joining us to participate in shared careers events with your young people.
At Exceptional Ideas Ltd we understand that parents, guardians, and carers play a vital role in shaping young people’s career aspirations. That’s why we work hard to build strong relationships with you, ensuring that career discussions extend beyond the classroom and into the home.
We actively encourage your involvement in career planning, as we recognise that you have the greatest influence on your child’s decision-making. Our approach includes regular communication, particularly during our 10-weekly reviews, as well as opportunities to join us for shared careers events alongside your young person.
Together, we can support them in exploring their future pathways with confidence.
When the time is right, we will encourage and support you in exploring post-16 options with your young person. This may include attending open events or visiting colleges and training providers to find the right fit for their needs.
Below, you will find links to a range of local post-16 provisions, offering both therapeutic and academic pathways. The level of education available—ranging from Foundation and Level 1 to Level 3—determines the complexity of the courses, ensuring that there are options suited to different abilities, interests, and aspirations.
We are committed to helping each young person find the best next step for their future.
We want to ensure you have access to the right information to confidently support your young person in exploring their career aspirations. Whether they are considering further education, apprenticeships, or specific job roles, having reliable sources of information can make a big difference in their decision-making journey.
Below are some useful websites that provide up-to-date information on career pathways, job profiles, entry requirements, and available apprenticeships. These resources are also used in school, so your young person may already be familiar with them:
By engaging in career discussions at home and using these resources, you can help your young person make informed choices about their future.
We aim to provide all Year 10 students with the opportunity to take part in work experience, offering valuable insight into the world of work. Each placement will include the level of Student Mentor support that the young person feels they need to ensure a positive and meaningful experience.
However, securing placements can sometimes be challenging. If you are able to support your young person in finding a placement, or if you know someone who may be able to offer an opportunity, we would love to hear from you. Please contact the Transition Lead or Operational Senior at your young person’s school to discuss potential options.
