Improving social skills and building confidence

BACK 07-10-2020

This student joined Primrose Hill School in year 8, splitting his day between coming into school and being taught at home until a full-time place was available.

He settled in well and spent most of his social time with a Student Mentor, as spending time with other students often made him feel overwhelmed and prompted meltdowns. Over time his confidence grew, and he was able to join in games with other students and recognise when he needed to move away as his emotional responses became out of control.  His meltdowns reduced and he was able to ask for space when he was struggling to maintain control.

He studied a range of subjects and gained a gold ASDAN Award as well as two short courses in food technology and history.  He also completed a range of Entry Level Certificates and was awarded two GCSE qualifications and went on to attend college at the end of his time at Primrose Hill School.
